The Unit for Quality Assurance is responsible for the evaluation of Faculties, Centres and Service Units. Every seven years the evaluations are tailored to the specific unit and performed in accordance with the (multistage) informed peer review model. The evaluations are carried out comprehensively taking into account the performance in research, teaching and administration.

In consultation with the directors of study programmes the course evaluation gets implemented in a three-semester mandatory cycle. For individual evaluations among others, the evaluation process is developed with the Rectorate, reviewers are selected and data analysis is performed. Extension curricula at the University of Vienna are established for time-limited periods and are evaluated to inform the decision process about a possible extension.

According to the Rectorate's Evaluation Plan for 2018-19 the following units will be evaluated:

  • Faculty of Life Sciences
  • Faculty of Catholic Theology
  • Faculty of Protestant Theology
  • Vienna University Library and Archive Services
  • Human Resources and Gender Equality
  • Central support units

  • Centre for Molecular Biology
  • Centre for Translation Studies
  • Centre for Sport Science and University Sports
  • Vienna University Computer Center
